The education in the Master’s program is designed to prepare highly qualified specialists in the fields of Social, Special, Preschool and Primary School Education. The curriculum is in compliance with the European requirements and standards. The programs offered give fundamental theoretical and specialized preparation for the successful professional realization and career development.
The master programs offered have a part-time form of education in the bachelor degree in the respective specialty or other specialties with the educational qualification degree “teacher”. The training finishes with a state exam or thesis defense. The successful students get an educational qualification degree “master in pedagogy” and may continue their education in the educational qualification degree “doctor”.
- For education in educational qualification degree “master” the candidates apply in the administrative office at the Faculty of Education.
- The classification of the candidates is in descending order of their competitive score and the order of the appointed specialized forms of training.
- The rating is calculated as the sum of the average grade of study and the average of state examinations (Thesis) in the higher school and any additional requirements that are specified for the Master's program.
- Training is conducted during the weekends without leaving work.
The period of training in the master's programs is 3 or 4 semesters (for professionals and non specialists), then training may continue in order to acquire a PhD.

- Acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies for managing social and educational organizations and institutions and the quality of their work.
- Acquisition of knowledge and skills for social work with persons in social risk, regardless of their ethnicity, socioeconomic status, as well as differences in their physical and intellectual potential;
- Developing skills for effective management of human resources;
- Formation of capabilities to discover, develop and implement modern management technologies.
- Acquisition of knowledge and skills for social work with children, students and adults, regardless of their ethnic background, socioeconomic status as well as their differences in physical and intellectual potential.
- Development of skills for cooperation and interaction between institutions performing social work.
- Acquisition of knowledge and skills to use modern information and communication technologies in the social field.
- Forming of skills for scientific research and diagnostic activities in the field of social education and social work.
- Knowledge of the innovative processes in theory and practice of the education of children with special educational needs and communicative disorders.
- Thorough theoretical preparation in accordance with modern tendencies of the education of children with difficulties in learning and school adaptation.
- Acquiring and expanding of knowledge about the diversity of alternative approaches and means of education of children with difficulties in studying in general education schools.
- Special preparation for the students in the problems of diagnostics, studying and school adaptation.
- knowledge of the theories in age development, social situation influence on behavioral models, basic theories and techniques related to the application of psychodynamic, behaviouristic, cognitive, client-centered and problem-oriented approaches of counseling, aims, stages and the essence of counseling;
- skills to identify the problems of personality, the stress-generating triggering factors, the mechanisms and interrelations of the crucial aspects of the individual development, making a psychological profile of the clients, making a counseling plan and counseling prognosis;
- competencies in the field of the applied type of counseling, based on the gravity of the client’s problems, formulating and dealing with cases, application of psychodiagnostic practices and result analysis. Here the role of the counseling person goes beyond the educational frames and the professional guidance of students and adolescents to the creation of a favourable environment for learning and development.
