Faculty of Economics

 

       Education in the professional field “Economics” at Trakia University began in 1992 with the major“Agribusiness”, which was renamed “Agrarian economics”  in 1996 and received positive accreditation. In 2002 the bachelor’s major “Regional planning and rural development”, which is innovative for the country, was also accredited.

The Faculty of Economics was founded as part of Trakia University with a Decree № 257/ 27.10.2008 of the Council of Ministers
The academic staff of the faculty comprises: 3 professors, 20 associate professors and 31 assistant professors and lecturers organized in 3 departments.
       Nearly 550 students study at the faculty in the professional filed “Economics” for acquiring the educational qualification degrees “bachelor” and “master” and the education and science degree “doctor”.

The course of study for acquiring a bachelor’s degree is 4 years for full-time and part-time students. For a master’s degree it is 3 semesters for students with an undergraduate degree in economics and 5 semesters for students with an undergraduate degree in a different subject area. Students may continue their education towards a PhD. Both bachelor and master degree students graduate acquiring the professional qualification “economist”.
       The Faculty of Economics has established good partnership traditions in the field of education and research with universities from Bulgaria and abroad. Academic staff members and students take part in many national and international projects.
